The Belvedere project of Hamri Street inaugurated
The Belvedere project, carried out by the Ghajnsielem Local Council and funded by MEPA’s Urban Improvement Funds, has been inaugurated yesterday, 22nd March, by the Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muscat.
A short ceremony took place following a band march by the local council St. Joseph. The ceremony consisted of an introductory speech by Mayor Francis Cauchi, also marking his termination of his post of a Mayor of Ghajnsielem for the past 21 years. An occasion’s speech was made by the Prime Minister of Malta Dr Joseph Muscat who praised such initiative by Local Councils which are of an extreme benefit to the country. The official inauguration and the blessing of the commemoration plaque followed. The ceremony ended up by the bank playing the national anthem.
Various activities for all those present were carried out during the inauguration ceremony at the Belvedere varying from balloon modelling for the young one to the most welcomed activity that of a free printed photo of those present.
The belvedere project will offer peaceful and relaxing time for those who visit it by enjoying the breath-taking view of the Mgarr Harbour, Lourdes Chapel and the channel from two levels, each offering a number of seating areas and a flower garden.
